Tech Show Week!

1. Thesis Carousel Results (p. 193)---discussion of "good" thesis statements
2. Who is Kurtz? AP Timed Write Discussion (pp. 194 and 195)--prompt and essay
3. Start work on Women in HOD worksheet (p. 197)

Wednesday/Thursday (4/22 and 4/23):

1. Tech Show Extra Credit Projects due!

2. Warm-Up (p. 196 top half): Write a paragraph that discusses the following:
a. What image of each woman emerges after examining Marlow's description of them?
b. What does the contrast between them reveal about Kurtz's personality?

3. Discuss ideas about the role of women in HOD.

4. The Horror!? (p. 196 bottom half): Reread the section where Kurtz speaks his dying words, then read the endnote about possible interpretations. Choose one of the four options and explain why you think that is the best interpretation of "the horror."

5. Start reading Chinua Achebe article: "An Image of Africa: Racism in Conrad's HOD"
a. Highlight and annotate for ideas you agree with, disagree with, or find important.
b. Answer questions about the article.

HW:
1. Racism in HOD Questions...will be TURNED IN on Monday/Tuesday.
2. Review Poetry Unit in your notebook...short quiz on Monday/Tuesday.
